Okay but... how does this work?
Acting Grind is a little different. It's a community, a resource, a place to watch things, find opportunities, discover other actors and occasionally scream into the void about your latest self-tape. So here's the stuff you might want to know.
The questions everyone eventually asks.
If something isn't answered here, send us a message. The FAQ will grow as Acting Grind grows.
So... what exactly is Acting Grind?
It's a platform built around the actual experience of being an actor. Part resource library, part community, part entertainment, part place to discover other actors and opportunities. Basically: somewhere to go when you're trying to figure this whole thing out.
Is this only for professional actors?
Nope. You can be brand new, in school, auditioning constantly, working occasionally, doing theatre, film, commercials, voice work, creating your own stuff or somewhere in between.
Do I need an agent?
No. Acting Grind isn't an agency and doesn't require you to have representation.
Is Acting Grind a casting agency?
No. We may feature or share opportunities, but Acting Grind itself isn't an agent, casting director or talent representative.
Is this only for actors?
The community is actor-focused, but writers, directors, filmmakers, creators and other people working alongside actors can absolutely have a place here too.
What can I actually do in the community?
Talk to other actors, ask questions, share experiences, discuss auditions, celebrate wins, vent about rejection, find collaborators and generally hang out with people who understand the grind.
Can I just lurk?
Absolutely. You don't have to post anything. Come in, look around, read conversations, watch videos and learn. Eventually you might feel like joining in.
Can I promote my own work?
Yes, within the community rules. We want actors to be discoverable and support each other's work without turning every conversation into an advertisement.
Can I connect with other actors?
That's one of the big ideas. Actor profiles and community features are designed to make it easier to discover people who might become collaborators, friends or simply fellow members of the same weird profession.
What if someone is being a jerk?
Report them. Acting is already vulnerable enough. Bullying, harassment, discrimination, scams and bad behaviour shouldn't be part of the experience here.
What is the YouTube series?
The idea is to follow different actors through their actual acting grind. Rather than one person being “the face” of the channel, multiple actors can contribute clips and episodes can become edited compilations of different people's experiences.
Do I have to be on camera?
No. You could send footage, a story, a voice note, behind-the-scenes clips, funny moments or something else that captures your experience.
What kind of social content will you make?
Funny acting-life moments, little skits, memes, tips, encouragement, relatable audition stories and the kind of stuff actors send to their friends saying: “THIS.”
Can I suggest content?
Please do. Acting Grind should be shaped by the people actually using it.
Can I submit my own content?
Yes. We're specifically building the platform to allow ongoing submissions from actors and creators.
What can I submit?
Stories, videos, tips, funny moments, audition experiences, behind-the-scenes clips, advice, memes, questions, creative projects and other things that fit the Acting Grind community.
Will you use my submission?
Maybe. Submitting something doesn't automatically mean it will be published. If we want to use your material outside the original submission context, the submission process should clearly explain what you're agreeing to.
Can I change my mind?
The exact process will depend on what you submitted and how it was licensed or agreed to be used. We'll make those terms clear before you submit rather than hiding them in tiny text.
Where do the opportunities come from?
Eventually, from multiple places. Some may be curated by Acting Grind. Others may be submitted by community members or shared from legitimate public sources.
Can I submit a casting opportunity?
Yes. There's a submission process so we can review listings before they appear.
Are opportunities guaranteed to be legitimate?
No platform can guarantee that. We'll make a serious effort to moderate listings and remove obvious scams or misleading posts, but actors should always do their own research.
Do I have to pay to apply for something?
Be cautious. Legitimate opportunities can have different processes, but unexpected requests for money or sensitive personal information should always raise a red flag.
Why would I make an actor profile?
So other people can find you. Your profile can eventually include your photo, location, specialties, links, reel and other information you choose to share.
Is this replacing my professional website?
No. Think of it more like your place inside the Acting Grind community. Your own website can still be your professional home base.
Can I link my Instagram or website?
Yes. Profiles are intended to make it easier for actors to connect their different creative spaces.
Can I delete my profile?
You should be able to manage your account and request deletion through the site's account tools.
Things we never want you to wonder about.
Am I welcome here?
Yes. Whether you've been acting for ten years or you're wondering if you should even start. You don't need to prove that you're “successful enough” to belong.
Can I ask a stupid question?
Please. There is an incredible amount of gatekeeping and weird secrecy around acting. If you don't know something, asking is better than pretending.
Can I admit this is hard?
You don't have to pretend everything is amazing all the time. The whole point of Acting Grind is that the good, bad, weird and ridiculous parts can coexist.
We don't want the fine print to surprise you.
Because Acting Grind may involve videos, photos, stories and submissions from real people, we're going to take content rights seriously.
Before you submit something, the form should tell you what you're agreeing to — whether that's simply allowing us to publish it on the site or potentially featuring it across our social channels or YouTube.
We're building this part carefully because your work belongs to you.
Before you hit “submit”
- Read what you're agreeing to.
- Only submit material you have the right to share.
- Don't submit someone else's private footage.
- Don't include private information you shouldn't share.
- Know where your submission may appear.
- Ask us if something isn't clear.
The community should feel like home.
That means a few basic rules. Nothing revolutionary. Just basic human decency.
Be kind.
People are putting themselves out there. Don't make them regret it.
No bullying.
Harassment, discrimination and targeted attacks aren't part of the deal.
Respect different paths.
Everyone's career looks different. There isn't one correct route.
Don't pretend you know everything.
Advice is great. Acting like your way is the only way isn't.

Watch something. Learn something. Find an opportunity. Meet another actor. Submit something. Or just hang out. That's what this place is for.
